How did I get into Derby?— I went to a Meet-n-Greet with the BRRG after the 2010 Xmas Parade and after that knew. I had to see them in action. After I went to my first Bout it was love at first Hit! I knew I wanted to be one of them!

How did you get into derby? Saw a Carolina Roller girls bout when I was in college at Chapel Hill.  It was love at first sight.

Derby injuries-Dislocated ribs and concussion- you know the usual!

Prebout rituals- Eat a giant sandwich and intimidate the opposing team by being awesome!

How did you get into derby? I found out there was  a league forming in the area and signed up!

Favorite derby memory-  Skating off the track in the loving arms of Sugar MagMaulya after the glorious last jam of our very last bout at the Asheville Civic center.  The roar of the crowd was deafening.  It was a beautiful moment!

Derby Injuries- Countless.

Prebout rituals- eat all day, naked juice, Gatorade, naked juice, carbs, eat, eat, eat.  Skate.

How long have you been skating? Ive been skating with Blue Ridge for 4 season.

Date you join BRRG- I joined in July 2008

Real job- I work with adults with developmental disabilities. 

Position you play- Blocker

Skates- Reidell Minx

How did you get into derby? My roommate in Florida convinced me to watch a bout and once I actually saw a bout I was hooked.

Favorite derby memory- Getting lead jammer in the first bout of 2010, granted we were up by 200 points, but I still got lead!

Derby Injuries- Torn both ligaments holding my collar bone in place.  I had 2 surgeries to repair my shoulder, was out for 4 months and didn’t play for 6 months. 

Prebout rituals- The night before I thoroughly clean my skates and wheels, pack about 3 times, and the day of I go out for breakfast at Cornerstone.  I make sure I have gue and food for before the bout.  I like to get there early to help set up and work my jitters out.

Favorite skater- I can’t pick one…Sugar is my hero, I live with Villain, and Slam is amazing

Likes- I love the family aspect and support

Dislikes- I don’t like that I cant play roller derby for a living

Skates- Reidell 965 boots, revenge plates.  Bearings are varied but I prefer Bones Swiss.  Strange wheel set up I like on most floors includes half Stingers (88a) and half Dubz (100a)

How did you get into derby?  Went to a birthday party of a coworker/friend who was into derby at a skating rink.  They started throwing pads at me and having me do falls after seeing me skate.  They told me about try outs and the rest is history.

Favorite derby memory- Getting MVP from our 2011 bout against Cape Fear.

Derby Injuries- Broken ankle, broken tail bone twice, a sprained PCL, and lots of bumps and bruises.

Prebout rituals- Breakfast with the derby wife, Villain.  Then I usually stay pretty quiet and to myself and visualize annihilation.  Right before the bout I do 10 hip bumps on each side with Cussed’Em ChopHer!

Favorite Skater(s)- Sugar MagMaulya, Beyonslay, Bonnie Thunders, Caslamity Jane, and many more I cant think of to list right now but most importantly I love every BRRG skater!

Likes- My 2 amazing boys, honesty, big hits, opposing players bouncing off me, diet dew, chocolate, people who are amazing and still think they have a lot to work on, tattoos, piercings,  and my dogs and cats.

Prebout rituals- the night before I relax and watch a movie that makes me want to kick ass (like Kill Bill for example.) Morning of the bout I do chikung, order sushi to-go from wasabi, get my hair french-braided by my awesome hair stylist, and put my dragon makeup on!

Date joined BRRG, Other teams you’ve played for?   So, 2 years the first team i joined was U.R.G.E (Upstate Roller Girl Evolution), played for a year-ish. Then I moved to Boone , N.C. where I started skating with both A.R.G (Appalachian Roller Girls) and B.R.R.G and that was around April of 2011.

Real job? I am a teacher for 2-3 year old children.

Skating Position(s)- I am most certainly a jammer, but i do love to block from time to time (when we are up by at least 100 points).

Skates?  Riedell 265 boot, Power-Dyne Reactor plates, Bone swiss bearings, and my all time favorite wheels, Atom Stingers.

How did you get into derby? Honestly, my friend and i started a fight club for girls in my basement and a roller girl showed up and told me all about it!

Favorite derby memory?  is when Punk and I did the Quadzilla whip in the last jam of our last game of 2011!

Derby Injuries- One time I tried to jump over Bully and failed. I over-extended the left side of my body and my wheel actually touched my helmet. While there are no scars to show, i was carried off in a stretcher and neck brace....a lots of ice and epsom salt, good to go.

Prebout rituals- Before a bout i usually: shave my legs, make inside jokes to myself, connect spiritually with the floor and listen to old school rap music.

How did you get into derby?- I was invited to newbie night by a friend. . . had no idea what I was getting into!

Favorite derby memory- I was trackside when Philly beat Gotham by one point in the last jam of the 2009 Eastern Regional Tournament, amazing! My favorite home team memories are all the silly things that happen between jams and off the track.

Derby injuries- sprained MCL, separated shoulder, black eye, back trauma. . . overall I’ve been pretty lucky.

Prebout rituals- Home: smoothie, bike ride, special unicorn hat. Away: double checking. . . did I bring my skates? Mouth guard? Pants?

Real job- SuperHero by night. College Financial Aid Adviser by day. Pain-in-the-butt 24/7.

Skating position(s)- Attempting to use my big booty to block

Skates (brand and include wheels/bearing if you want)- Currently Riedell R3s with Atom Super G wheels. But wanting to upgrade as soon as I can afford it.

How did you get into derby?- Wanted to join the team for a few years, but the timing was never right. The day after my 34th birthday was a bootcamp. Went out to see what it was about using rental skates. It was hard and I could barely walk the next day, but I knew I found a new love.

Favorite derby memory- Passing Tryouts, but new wonderful memories are being made all the time.

Derby injuries- Bruises. Lots and lots of bruises. They look wonderful with my professional work attire.
